Warmer Kiwi Home Eligibility
You and your family deserve a warm, dry home. Warmer Kiwi Homes covers 50% to 90% of the costs to purchase and install insulation and up to 90% off an efficient heater, to help you save money on your power bills while you enjoy a warmer, healthier home.
What the grants cover
- 50-90% of the total cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation installed in your home. In some areas the cost to you may be even lower, thanks to generous funding from community organisations.
- Up to 90% of the cost of an approved heater installed in your home. A heat pump is an accepted heating system, at Daikin we have a list of approved products and local specialists under the WKH scheme. Heater grants are capped at $3450 including GST.
Checklist for a heater grant
1. You own and live in a home built before 2008.
2. You (the owner) have a Community Services card, SuperGold Combo card or live in an area identified as low income.
3. You have ceiling and underfloor insulation installed to EECA standards. If your home has been insulated through a Government insulation programme, we'll confirm it when you apply for a heater grant. Otherwise an EECA insulation provider will do a quick check — at no cost to you.
4. Your home doesn't already have one of the following fixed heaters that is operational in any living area of the house: heat pump, wood or pellet burner, flued gas heater or central heating system. If your home has one of these heater types, it is not eligible for a heating grant.
Heat pump — If eligible, expect the amount you need to pay to be $300-$700. This will depend on the size and brand of the heat pump. Heat pumps provide instant heat and temperature control with a thermostat, and have low running costs if used properly. Your unit will be sized to heat the room it’s installed in, not the whole house.
